Update: Thielert Aircraft Engines (TAE) DA42 situation

Thielert Aircraft Engines (TAE) DA42 situation 
UPDATE as of 28th October, 2008 
 
When Thielert Aircraft Engines (TAE) went into insolvency, the company discontinued all guarantees 
given to customers regarding prorated Warranty and life limited parts for Thielert engines.  
All operators were forced to drastically increase their prices in order to cover these increased operating 
costs for the DA42 Twin Star.

In an announcement last week, Thielert reduced some of the current prices (esp. for inspected 
gearboxes and clutches) and we are glad to pass these reductions on to our customers. As of October 
the 28th, 2008 the price per hour is reduced by more than 5%: 

• The reduced price for the DA42 will be $458.00 per hour 

Currently no fuel surcharge is in effect. 
 
Thanks to the help of Diamond and the effort of our DA42 owners we are in the position to keep all our 
Twin Star’s in service. Beside the use during normal Multi‐engine training for any license and rating, we 
provide the full range of service: 

• We offer Checkouts on the DA42’s 
• We allow Rentals on the DA42’s 
• We offer initial Multi engine training (e.g. Commercial ME) 
• We offer DA42 time building flights, based on case‐by‐case approval 
 
 
In other words, we are almost completely back to normal operations with regards to our DA42’s.
